Lilian Shao "Song of the Breezes."
Signed limited edition Serigraph, 116 of 275, 1990 framed with 1 linen and 2 colored mats. This is amazing statement piece.
An Art Deco-inspired piece, it blends elements of Chinese poetic forms and Greco-Roman styles.
Lillian Shao began her learning of Chinese calligraphy at the age of six. Taught by her grandfather in her native country of Taiwan, she became well versed with numerous styles, including those of the Chin and Han dynasties, dating from the 3rd century B.C. and 4th century A.D. Her love for calligraphy would be the foundation for her artistic career. After completing High School she went on to study at National Taiwan University, and after graduation in 1973, she moved to the United States. In 1977, she earned her MA from California State University, LA.
Today, Ms. Shao’s work is a combination of many influences, both Eastern and Western. Her works include elements of Art Deco, Greek mythology, and Chinese poetry. Shao takes contemporary design and ancient Eastern style to form her original and distinctive style.
