Oak Barrister Stacking Bookcase, Five-Stack Lawyer's Bookcase with Glass Doors
A five-tier stacking barrister bookcase in warm-toned oak with solid, veneer, and composite construction. Each section carries a glass door that lifts up and slides back on the classic lawyer's-bookcase mechanism, keeping contents dust-free while allowing full access. The cabinet is one fixed piece — the sections do not separate — topped by a molded cornice and finished at the base with squared bracket feet. Bookmatched oak backing gives each shelf a mirrored grain pattern, and small brass knobs finish the door rails.
The stacking barrister form dates to the turn of the 20th century, when modular bookcases let a growing library expand tier by tier; this later production keeps the recognizable up-and-over glass doors and stepped stacked profile. Shelf heights graduate from top to bottom, giving flexibility for varied book and display sizes.
CONDITION
Good overall. Scratches and minor chips throughout the finish, including edge nicks to the molding and a small surface chip shown against a dime for scale. Doors operate on the lift-and-slide track. Glass is intact.
