Description

Native American Literature & Western Americana, 7 Books — Signed "Indian Wood"

A seven-volume group spanning Plains and Pueblo ethnography, history, and Native-focused fiction. Titles include Gene Weltfish, The Lost Universe: Pawnee Life and Culture (University of Nebraska Press Bison Book, 1977, softback); Thomas J. Caperton, Rogue! The Life and High Times of Stephen W. Dorsey (Museum of New Mexico Press, first edition 1978, this a 1991 Dorsey Mansion reprint issue); Ella Cara Deloria, Waterlily (University of Nebraska Press, 1988, hardcover with dust jacket); Frank Waters, The Man Who Killed the Deer (Swallow/Ohio University Press, 1981 reprint of the 1942 title, with a period gift inscription dated 1/13/83); Robert M. Utley, The Last Days of the Sioux Nation (Yale Western Americana paperbound, fifth printing 1970); and a hardcover copy of Stephen E. Ambrose's Crazy Horse and Custer (1975) .

The standout is Richard Folsom's Indian Wood: A Mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island, signed by the author on the title page and carrying the publisher's "Autographed Copy" seal on the front cover. The Rogue! reprint ties directly to northern New Mexico history through its Dorsey Mansion connection near Raton. A useful working shelf for readers of Plains and Pueblo ethnography and Western Americana.

CONDITION

Fair overall with discoloration, age-appropriate wear, and signs of use across the group. The dust jacket on Waterlily is ripped, and The Man Who Killed the Deer shows wear to the binding. Individual titles vary; please review all photos.
