Baccarat Crystal Faceted Obelisk
There is a moment, right after you set a heavy crystal object down on a marble surface, where it rings — just barely, just once. That sound is the whole argument for Baccarat. This obelisk has it. Four beveled faces tapering from a wide, stepped plinth up to a razor pyramidal cap, the lead crystal so dense and clear it seems lit from within even in a dim room. Pick it up and the 2 lbs settles into your palm with the calm authority of something made without compromise.
The base carries the acid-etched script Baccarat signature and the circular factory mark — the house that has been making crystal in Baccarat, Lorraine since 1764, and whose pieces sit in royal collections and major museums worldwide. The obelisk form is among their most enduring sculptural objects: pure geometry, no color, no surface decoration competing with the material. Just lead crystal doing exactly what it does better than anything else.
