Spanish Majolica Orange & Leaf Pyramid Topiary Centerpiece, Hand-Sculpted
Sixty-odd individually hand-formed oranges, each one stippled with peel texture, blushed from yellow-gold to burnt sienna, punched with a stem well — stacked tier by tier into a cone nearly two feet tall, with dark green modeled leaves spiraling up between the fruit. The glaze is high-gloss and catches light differently from every angle, turning the whole tower warm. It sits on a table and the room reorganizes itself around it.
Decorative fruit pyramids like this one descend from the grand European banquet table, where mounded citrus announced the season and the host's ambitions in one gesture. Spanish ceramic workshops kept that tradition alive in glazed earthenware — bright, tactile, unapologetically abundant. This piece carries that energy without the formality. It works on a dining table, a kitchen island, a sideboard, a console. Marked MADE IN SPAIN in hand-lettered script on the underside.
CONDITION
Very Good with no remarkable damage. Glaze is bright and glossy throughout with only minor age-consistent surface wear. Fine crazing to the unglazed base.
