Regency-Style Mahogany Round Drum Table with Lion-Head Pull & Brass Paw Feet
A compact Regency-style drum table on a turned, fluted pedestal rising from a tripod base of splayed reeded legs, each capped with a cast brass lion's-paw foot. The circular top carries a radial bookmatched mahogany veneer in a starburst pattern, edged in a reeded lip. A single frieze drawer with dovetail construction pulls from the apron, fitted with a cast brass lion's-head ring pull.
The drum form descends from English Regency library and rent tables of the early 19th century, here rendered at side-table scale for use beside a chair or sofa. The underside carries a chalk inventory mark ("40931"). Unmarked as to maker. Construction shows evidence of past restoration, with the pedestal-to-base joinery secured and reinforced.
CONDITION
Good, sturdy, with no remarkable damage. Discoloration and ring staining to the interior drawer bottom. Past restoration present; the piece stands solid.
