Rustic Lone Star Maple Armchair with Black Leather Seat
A substantial rustic armchair in solid maple, hand-distressed throughout with an amber wax finish, scribed surface marks, and softened edges that give the piece its worn, well-handled character. The concave crest rail rolls back over a wide back panel centered with a carved five-point star medallion in a raised roundel — a Lone Star motif that anchors the design. A horizontal ladder rail spans below, with shaped, tapering arms carried on sabre-form supports that flow into the raked rear legs.
Construction is straightforward and honest: square-section legs joined by an H-stretcher below with a turned, bulbous center element linking the front and rear runs, and the seat frame apron carrying a padded black leather drop-in cushion. The heavy planed timber, exposed tool marks, and deliberate abrasion mark this as a purpose-distressed piece rather than an antique — sturdy dining or occasional seating with a Texian decorative accent.
CONDITION
Good with signs of use; rustic by design. The distressing — surface scoring, edge wear, and finish variation — is intentional to the maker's aesthetic. The black leather seat shows some wear, creasing, and light surface scratches consistent with use.
