Hand-Painted Mexican Talavera Pottery Set — Oval Server, Pitcher & Cup
A three-piece set of hand-painted Talavera-style ceramic from Mexico, each piece glazed over a warm terracotta body with cobalt rims and built-up slip-trailed floral and foliate motifs in red, orange, green, yellow, and blue. The handled oval server anchors the group with a central blue-and-red rosette flanked by leaf and berry sprays, paired with a bulbous handled pitcher and a small straight-sided cup. The raised dot-and-line work gives each design a tactile, dimensional quality typical of the technique.
All three pieces are maker-marked on the underside, hand-lettered "Hecho en México" with mold numbers (10 and 15) in the reference photos. The set reads well as both functional serveware and decorative display — the kind of vivid, regionally rooted pottery that ties naturally to borderland tables. The interiors are finished in a glossy caramel glaze.
CONDITION
Very Good. No remarkable damage. Minor touched-up chips to the rim of the pitcher; the cobalt rim glaze shows the expected hand-finished irregularity along the pitcher's pour edge.
