Apothecary Bottle Ceramic Lamp Pair, Clock-Motif Shades
A matched pair of small table lamps built on hexagonal ceramic bases cast as antique apothecary bottles, finished in a mottled treacle-brown glaze with raised lettering reading "A. JASPER'S / INDIAN HERB / HEALTH TONIC" down alternating panels. The bottle form rises to a turned shoulder and short neck, fitted with a brass socket assembly and harp. Each is topped by a cylindrical plastic shade printed in brown and cream with a repeat of grandfather clocks, mantel clocks, pocket watches, and hourglasses — a whimsical "time" theme that plays well off the patent-medicine bases.
The shades carry a molded "MADE IN U.S.A." and patent-pending mark to the top fitter ring. The two lamps differ slightly: one base reads "COL. SAM JONES / PROPRIETOR / ATLANTA, GA. / 1853", drawn from a different reproduction apothecary mold, making the pair complementary rather than identical. Both wire down to standard cord-and-plug and are tested and fully functional.
CONDITION
Good overall and fully functional; both tested and working. The shades show scuffs and scratches, with a short hairline crack to the printed surface on one. Glaze and relief lettering on the ceramic bases remain crisp.
