Farmhouse Antique Pine Fireplace Kindling & Mudroom Box with Iron T-Strap Hinges
A plank-built lidded storage box in solid pine, constructed with vertical corner stiles framing horizontal board panels and joined throughout with square-cut nails — a construction vocabulary consistent with rural 19th- to early-20th-century utilitarian cabinetry. Built for capacity and durability, the form lends itself easily to fireside kindling storage, a mudroom catch-all, or blanket and throw storage. The body retains an early painted surface: a greenish-gray ground beneath a worn reddish-brown coat, with the cleated, framed lid worn down to warm bare wood from generations of handling.
The hinged lid is mounted on two surface-applied iron T-strap hinges, both showing age-appropriate oxidation.The interior is clean and dry, the box sturdy on its stile feet, and the lid opens and closes on its original hardware.
CONDITION
Good with rust, oxidation, and age-appropriate wear throughout. A section of trim is absent on the rear, and the left hinge strap is cracked but remains functional. Paint loss and surface abrasion are consistent with working use; the body remains solid and sturdy.
