Pompanoosuc Mills Spindle Armchair, Solid Cherry, Kilim-Pattern Upholstery

Pompanoosuc Mills of Vermont has been building solid hardwood furniture by hand since 1972, and this spindle armchair is a characteristic example of their approach: honest construction, no veneers, no shortcuts. The frame is solid cherry throughout — squared corner posts, slat-back and slat-sided panels, a clean apron rail at the seat base — assembled with wooden peg joinery and finished to a warm honey tone that cherry develops naturally with age and light. The chair's profile is roomy and grounded, with broadly proportioned arms and a deep seat box that accommodates full-size foam wedge cushions in a removable configuration.

The cushions — seat and back — are upholstered in a recent kilim-inspired tapestry fabric: a rich brick-red ground woven with geometric medallions, stepped diamonds, and stylized motifs in sage, sand, terracotta, and slate. The back cushion tucks behind the spindle rails rather than attaching to the frame, and the seat cushion rests directly on the platform, making both easy to swap or recover. The chair was recently upholstered and comes from a pet-friendly home.

CONDITION

Very Good overall. No remarkable damage to the frame; joinery is sturdy and the cherry shows a pleasing, even patina. Recently upholstered cushions present well with no visible soiling or wear to the new fabric. Buyers with pet sensitivities should note the home environment.
