Description

Hank Thompson Capitol LP Collection — 14 Albums, Single Owner, 1950s–1960s

A run of fourteen Hank Thompson albums on Capitol Records, all single-owner copies acquired in the 1960s and 1970s. The set spans Thompson's prime years fronting the Brazos Valley Boys, the western swing band that took home top honors year after year through the late '50s and early '60s. Titles include the live At the Golden Nugget (T 1632), The No. 1 Country & Western Band! (T 1741), Luckiest Heartache in Town (T 2342), Cheyenne Frontier Days (T 1775), Songs of the Brazos Valley, Dance Ranch (T 975), Most of All (T 1360), New Recordings of Hank Thompson's All-Time Hits (T 729), This Broken Heart of Mine (T 1469), Favorite Waltzes, Songs for Rounders, Golden Country Hits (T 2089), and An Old Love Affair (T 1544).

The cover art tracks the era's full graphic range — neon-lit Vegas photography, painterly cowboy portraiture, the saloon-table tableau of Songs for Rounders, and the award-shelf still life of The No. 1 Country & Western Band! Several jackets carry period pencil notations and pricing from earlier ownership. Sold together as a single lot.

CONDITION

Records are playable. Jackets grade as shown, with edge and corner wear, surface soiling, and period handwritten notations to several backs. No unpleasant odors.
