Description

Vintage Country & Bluegrass Duo LP Lot of 12 — Louvin Brothers, Stanley Brothers, George Jones & Gene Pitney

A twelve-record run of 1950s–60s country, bluegrass, and brother-duo LPs, single-owner and mostly acquired in the 1960s and 1970s. The lot leans heavily on harmony acts and bluegrass mainstays: three Louvin Brothers titles on Capitol — Tragic Songs of Life (T769), Country Love Ballads (T1106), and My Baby's Gone (T1385, Star Line) — plus two Stanley Brothers King pressings, Sing the Songs They Like Best (772) and Award Winners at the Folk Song Festival (791).

Rounding out the group: Don Reno and Red Smiley Instrumentals and Ballads (King 579), George Jones & Gene Pitney (Musicor MM 2044), Hits by Johnnie & Jack (RCA Victor LPM-2017), Red Foley and Ernest Tubb Red and Ernie (Decca DL 8298), and three Starday sides — Joe & Rose Lee Maphis Mr. & Mrs. Country Music (SLP 286), Johnny and Jonie Mosby (SLP 328), and Lulu Belle & Scotty (SLP 206). Several jackets carry old retail price stickers and dated owner notations in marker.

CONDITION

Good overall as a used lot. Records are playable. Jackets show age-appropriate wear including ring wear, edge and corner wear, price stickers, and ink notations to several backs; the Stanley Brothers King 772 jacket shows heavier surface scuffing and scratching. All single-owner, no unpleasant odors.
