Description

Daron Worldwide Supermarine Spitfire Mk. I Mahogany Desktop Model — RAF DW-K, Serial N3029

A hand-finished desktop model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk. I mounted on a contoured mahogany stand, rendered in the standard early-war RAF day fighter camouflage scheme — dark earth and dark green disruptive pattern over upper surfaces, sky-grey beneath. The fuselage carries squadron codes DW‑K and airframe serial N3029, identifiers corresponding to a real Spitfire Mk. I that entered RAF service in 1940. Type "B" roundels with yellow outer rings appear on both fuselage and upper wing surfaces; the fin flash carries the RAF red, white, and blue tricolor. The three-blade propeller features yellow-tipped black blades, and the blown bubble canopy is rendered in metallic blue-green. The curved stand sets the model in a slight nose-up climbing attitude, capturing the Spitfire's characteristic ground stance on its narrow-track undercarriage.

The black-stained wood base carries a brass nameplate engraved Supermarine / RAF Spitfire Mk. 1. The underside of the base bears a Daron Worldwide Trading Inc. label, Fairfield, NJ — a well-regarded distributor of licensed aviation desk models with a long record of producing finely detailed mahogany presentation pieces for the military aviation collectibles market. The model body is cast resin with hand-applied paint detailing throughout; panel lines, exhaust stacks, gun ports, and the retracted tailwheel are all rendered with care.

CONDITION

Very Good with gentle signs of use and no remarkable damage. Light surface scuffing to the camouflage finish and faint handling marks along the fuselage are consistent with display use over time. Pitot tube, antenna mast, propeller, and base nameplate are all intact.
