Frederick Cooper Ceramic Table Lamp with Hand-Painted Lotus Pond Motif
A ceramic table lamp by Frederick Cooper of Chicago, the baluster-form ceramic body hand-painted with a lotus pond scene — pink blooms and buds rising on slender stems above broad green lily pads, against a crackle-glaze cream ground. The composition wraps the full body for an all-around view. Brass cap and collar fittings transition to the socket cluster, set on a turned wood base with a brass ring. Maker-marked Frederick Cooper, Chicago on the socket.
Frederick Cooper, founded in Chicago in 1923, built its reputation on hand-finished lamps combining painted ceramic, brass, and tole work — fixtures favored by interior designers for their handcrafted character. This example pairs an East Asian botanical motif with a 3-way switch for adjustable light levels. Includes the original tapered linen shade and finial.
CONDITION
Good. Tested and fully functional; 3-way switch operates correctly. No damage to the ceramic body or fittings. Shade shows light handling with minor soiling consistent with age.
