Brass & Hardwood Wall Candle Sconces, Scoop-Form, Pair
At first glance they read as scoops — broad, curved brass backs arching up from a riveted cylindrical candle cup, turned hardwood handles dropping below like something pulled from a kitchen drawer or a grain bin. That's the charm. Each piece borrows the silhouette of a working tool and repurposes it for candlelight: a small brass hanging loop on the back of each plate anchors it to the wall, and the cup holds a standard candle right where the scoop's throat would end. The overall effect is utilitarian and quietly theatrical at once.
The brass back-plates carry a deeply mottled surface — pools of warm gold breaking through near-black oxidation, with amber and brown tones drifting between. This is age and atmosphere, not damage. The turned hardwood handles are smooth and well-proportioned, lending each piece the hand-feel of something made to be held. Both are unmarked. Sold as a matched pair.
CONDITION
Good overall. Heavy patination across both brass back-plates — gold, brown, and darkened areas throughout — consistent with age and oxidation, not flaws. Wood handles show honest wear with a warm, aged tone. Brass hanging loops intact on both backs.
