J.A. Henckels Brass-Handle Folding Fishing Knife with Sharpening Steel Blade
A small J.A. Henckels folding knife with a solid brass scaled handle and nickel-silver bolster caps at each end, pinned through. The single blade is steel, ground to a slender taper and sharpened well past its original profile through years of stropping. The blade carries Henckels markings at the tang. The brass body shows the warm, irregular patina of long pocket carry.
The drawn-out, narrowed blade and the heavy brass handle point to a working utility or fishing/bait knife rather than a gentleman's pocket model — the kind of tool resharpened until the spine and edge no longer match the factory grind. Henckels, the Solingen, Germany cutlery house operating under its twin-figure trademark since the 18th century, built tools to be used hard and maintained, and this one carries the wear to prove it.
CONDITION
Good. Brass handle shows scratching, scuffing, and age-appropriate wear with scattered spotting. Blade has been heavily sharpened, reducing the original profile, with surface oxidation and patina to the steel. Action functional.
