Astronaut Joe Allen Signed Card — STS-5 & STS-51A, with Consignor Letter & COA
Signature card hand-inked in black by Joe Allen, the NASA astronaut and physicist who flew two Space Shuttle missions aboard Columbia and Discovery. Below his signature Allen has noted both of his flights: STS-5 and STS-51A. Penned on a standard ruled index card; the reverse carries only faint show-through of the ink.
Allen flew STS-5 in November 1982 — the first operational Shuttle mission, which deployed the first commercial satellites from the cargo bay. He returned aboard STS-51A in November 1984, the first satellite-retrieval mission in history. Using a Manned Maneuvering Unit jetpack, Allen flew out and hand-captured the spinning Palapa B-2 communications satellite, holding it steady while it was wrestled into the bay. His clear annotation of both mission designations ties the autograph directly to that flight history.

From the collection of the individual who personally acquired the autograph directly from Joe Allen. A signed letter from the consignor attesting to that personal acquisition accompanies the lot.
Authenticity
A Certificate of Authenticity from Mesilla Valley Estate Sales accompanies this piece, alongside the consignor's signed letter of provenance. The signature is self-inscribed with both mission designations in Allen's hand.
CONDITION
Very Good. Ink is bold and fully legible across the signature and both mission notations. Card stock is clean with light handling only; verso blank apart from faint show-through and minor scattered specks.
