Description

Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman Signed Autograph Card — NASA Astronaut, STS-61 Hubble Repair Veteran

Signed autograph card bearing the bold black-ink signature of Dr. Jeffrey A. Hoffman, the NASA astronaut who in 1993 became part of the STS-61 crew that performed the first servicing mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. The card carries a printed "Autograph of" line at upper left and a sepia-toned engraving of the U.S. Capitol dome, with "JEFFREY A. HOFFMAN" printed across the lower field. The signature sweeps boldly across the dome image. The verso bears a pencil notation reading "Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman / astronaut."

Hoffman flew five Space Shuttle missions between 1985 and 1996, logging more than 1,200 hours in space and becoming the first astronaut to log 1,000 hours aboard the Shuttle. A Harvard-trained astrophysicist, he is best known for his spacewalks during the landmark Hubble repair — work that restored the telescope's optics and salvaged one of the most important scientific instruments ever launched.

Provenance

This card comes directly from the collection of the individual who personally acquired Dr. Hoffman's autograph. A signed letter from that consignor attesting to the acquisition accompanies the lot, along with a certificate of authenticity issued by Mesilla Valley Estate Sales.

CONDITION

Very Good. The card is clean and bright with a strong, fully legible ink signature. Light handling consistent with a card of this type; pencil notation present on verso.
