Smith-Corona Galaxie Twelve Portable Typewriter in Blue, 1960s, with Case
A Smith-Corona Galaxie Twelve (XII) portable manual typewriter in two-tone metallic blue and gray, made by SCM (Smith-Corona Marchant). The machine carries the Power-Space feature, segment shift, and the standard QWERTY layout with ivory keys, plus the SET/CLEAR tab controls and L-M-H impression selector. Serial number 371658 appears on the frame. A faded original price ticker on the carriage reads "K-MART / SAT NOV / '75," placing its retail life in the mid-1970s.
The Galaxie line was Smith-Corona's mainstream portable through the 1960s and into the '70s — a sturdy, no-nonsense workhorse that sat on countless desks and dorm rooms. It comes housed in its fitted hard-shell carrying case with the SCM Smith-Corona handle and "PUSH UP TO RELEASE MACHINE" latch label intact. Tested and fully functional; no keys stick.
CONDITION
Very Good and fully functional. Tested with no remarkable damage and no sticking keys; gentle signs of use throughout. The case shows some minor wear consistent with age.
