Lladró Porcelain Sleeping Baby Jesus Figurine with Gilt Halo, Spain
A small, matte-finish porcelain figure of the Christ Child from Lladró, the Valencia-based atelier known worldwide for its delicately modeled religious and figurative work. The infant is shown recumbent and asleep, one arm tucked beneath the cheek, the soft gradient of grey-blue wash across the hair and lashes giving the face a dreaming quality. A slender gilt-metal halo is set into the back of the head, the only ornament against the untinted bisque body.
Marked on the underside with the blue Lladró backstamp ("Hand Made in Spain") along with impressed mold notation. Designed as the central Christ Child for a Lladró Nativity grouping, the figure also works as a standalone devotional piece. The matte (gres) finish and minimal polychrome are characteristic of the firm's religious line — restrained, sculptural, and reliant on form rather than color.
CONDITION
Good. Light scuffing to the matte surface consistent with display and handling; no chips or damage noted. Halo remains secure.
