Mid-Century Wrought Iron & Mesh Two-Seat Patio Glider, Unmarked
A two-seat outdoor glider bench in wrought iron, the arched back crowned with a pierced cast scrollwork crest of foliate and floral motifs. The seat and back are formed of expanded diamond mesh, supported on a tubular iron frame with shaped arms, splayed legs, and the characteristic four-bar swing linkage that allows the seat to glide forward and back. Disc feet finish the legs.
The form draws on Victorian garden furniture traditions revived by American makers such as Woodard, Salterini, and Russell Lee, who produced ornamental mesh patio sets for porches, courtyards, and gardens from the 1940s through the 1960s. This example is unmarked and carries decades of layered white paint over its original dark finish — sturdy throughout, and ready to be stripped and repainted to match your garden's palette.
CONDITION
Good and fully functional; the glider mechanism is tested and operates smoothly. Heavy paint loss, chipping, and oxidation throughout consistent with sustained outdoor use. Frame and mesh are structurally sound.
