Large Tutankhamun Funerary Mask Replica, Polychrome & Gilt Fiberglass
A substantial decorative replica of the burial mask of Tutankhamun, cast in fiberglass and finished in gold leaf with polychrome detailing in deep greens, oxblood reds, and black. The piece reproduces the iconic frontal bust from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo — the striped nemes headdress framing the youthful pharaonic face, the vulture (Nekhbet) and cobra (Wadjet) rearing in tandem from the brow, the plaited divine beard, and the broad wesekh collar layered in concentric bands of gilt, green, and red. The reverse is finished in matte black with two integrated keyhole hangers, allowing wall mounting; the flat base also permits shelf or plinth display.
Applied gold leaf gives the surface a genuinely metallic depth rather than a painted sheen, with naturalistic patches and tonal variation across the headdress and face that mimic the worn appearance of the original artifact. A small adhesive label on the verso reads "Made in Philippines / Stock No." — the Philippines being a long-established source for high-quality cast resin and fiberglass museum-replica decor. At over two feet tall and ten pounds, the piece has real presence and reads convincingly from across a room.
CONDITION
Good. Light scuffing and minor wear consistent with display. No remarkable damage. Displays well.
