1983 U.S. Mint Olympic Prestige Proof Set — Los Angeles XXIII Olympiad, Original Case
A 1983 United States Mint Olympic Prestige Set issued to commemorate the XXIII Olympiad held in Los Angeles. The set contains six proof coins: Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, Kennedy half dollar, and the 1983-S Olympic commemorative silver dollar. All six coins are dated 1983.
The Olympic silver dollar features the discus thrower obverse designed by Elizabeth Jones, with legends "LOS ANGELES XXIII OLYMPIAD," "1983," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "LIBERTY." A clear "S" mint mark is present on the obverse beneath the date, identifying the San Francisco Mint. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with the legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The minor coinage carries the standard portraits of Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt, Washington, and Kennedy. Mint marks on the five smaller proofs are not clearly resolved in the photographs at the angles shown.
The 1983 Olympic dollar was the second U.S. commemorative silver dollar of the modern era and the first of the three-coin Los Angeles Olympic program. The Prestige Set was the U.S. Mint's premium proof offering, pairing the standard proof set with the year's commemorative dollar in a burgundy leatherette portfolio bearing the Great Seal medallion and burgundy cabochon clasp. Original Mint packaging and the printed specifications insert are included.

Coins remain sealed within the original Mint lens and show proof surfaces with frosted devices against mirrored fields. The Olympic silver dollar shows light haze in the field consistent with long-term storage in original packaging. The burgundy leatherette portfolio shows minor handling wear at the edges and corners; the clasp is intact and functional.
