1964 Austria 25 Schilling Silver Coin — Franz Grillparzer Commemorative
1964 Republic of Austria 25 Schilling silver commemorative coin honoring the Austrian dramatist Franz Grillparzer, designed by Edwin Grienauer and struck in .800 fine silver at the Vienna Mint, which produced this issue without a mint mark.
Issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872), Austria's preeminent 19th-century playwright and author of König Ottokars Glück und Ende and the Medea trilogy. The commemorative was part of Austria's long-running 25 Schilling silver series (1955–1973), which honored figures and institutions central to Austrian cultural and political identity.
