Sagitta Holland Enamel on Copper Plate with Seahorses, Signed
Charming mid-20th century hand-painted enamel on copper plate by Sagitta Holland, featuring two stylized white seahorses set against a copper ground with swirling abstract patterns in shades of turquoise, bronze, and blue. The surface is further decorated with raised enamel details in red, green, and blue, evoking marine life and ocean currents. Signed within the design and impressed on the reverse with the Sagitta Holland archer logo, confirming authenticity.
Sagitta Holland was active during the 1950s–60s and is well known for imaginative enamel work on copper, often showcasing whimsical animals, birds, and marine creatures. Pieces of this size (9" diameter) are among their most collectible, with seahorse and ocean motifs ranking among the more desirable themes. This example captures the vibrancy and artistry that made Sagitta a hallmark of Dutch mid-century decorative art.
