Gunn Furniture Co. Oak File Cabinet w/ Brass Hardware
An early 20th-century oak file cabinet manufactured by Gunn Furniture Co., Grand Rapids, Michigan. Constructed of solids and veneers with dovetail joinery, brass hardware, and a practical three-section modular design. The upper portion features twelve small drawers, each fitted with brass label holders and open right-hand sides by design—a signature Gunn filing innovation for storing and retrieving index cards or correspondence efficiently. The base holds two large file drawers with brass pulls, ideal for oversized documents. A partial Gunn label remains on the back.
This cabinet reflects the innovation and craftsmanship that made Gunn a leader in professional office furniture. Its modular construction, fine quarter-sawn oak grain, and rare visible-filing drawer design make it appealing both as a collectible and a functional storage solution.
Condition
