Artist Biography:
Robert “Shoofly” Shufelt (b. 1935) is celebrated for his photorealistic portrayals of the working American West. After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he left a career in commercial illustration to live on a working cattle ranch in Arizona. Immersed in cowboy culture, he began producing highly detailed graphite works that capture the grit and authenticity of ranch life. His limited-edition lithographs, artist proofs, and press proofs are widely collected and have earned him accolades including the Great American Cowboy Award (2005) and New Mexico Artist of the Year (2007).
