Geochron Kilburg World Time Clock — Nature Company
The classic mechanical world time clock from Geochron Ent., branded for The Nature Company. Serial 9205/11100 dates this unit to May 1992. A brown leatherette face with brass trim frames the illuminated political world map. Across the top, a 24-hour scale aligns with each time zone; below, a dateline calendar clarifies which side of the International Date Line it is. The shaded “terminator” band shows daylight and darkness in real time.
How it works (and why it’s cool): a motor drives a continuous map belt behind the glass while the sun-shadow aperture changes shape through the seasons—note the printed figure-eight analemma over the Pacific that helps correct for the equation of time. It’s part clock, part orrery, and pure conversation piece.
Service notes inside specify standard F15T8/D lamps and FS-2 starters; rear orange labels are the shipping locks—loosen two turns before operation. Includes wall-mount cleat and UL plate (“Time Indicator 224J, 120 VAC, 0.8 A, 60 Hz”).
Condition:
Good overall. Powers on with illumination. Manual advance via the knobs works; motor motion was not verified and may need adjustment or service. Scratches/scuffs to the aluminum back, light case wear, and debris behind the glass as shown. Sold as a vintage electromechanical display.
Dimensions/Size (inches):
Overall: 22.5 x 34.25 x 4.75
Visible map area: 15 x 24.25
Mounting cleat included.
