Victorian Eastlake Mahogany & Walnut Burl Parlor Chair Set — Carved, Casters, c.1880s
Pair of Victorian Eastlake parlor chairs, circa 1880s, comprising one armchair and one side chair. Crafted from solid mahogany, each chair features a tall, crested back with incised scrollwork, roundel accents, and a decorative panel of walnut burl for added contrast and elegance. The armchair displays gracefully scrolled arm supports; both rest on octagonal rear legs and turned front legs with brass casters.
The Eastlake style, named for English designer Charles Eastlake, favored geometric lines and refined carving over the ornate excess of earlier Victorian furniture. This set reflects that aesthetic while showcasing quality materials. Upholstered in a floral jacquard fabric in warm red and beige, framed with matching red gimp trim, they bring 19th-century charm to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
