Navajo Sandcast Sterling & Turquoise Concho Belt
This exceptional Navajo concho belt is a substantial piece of hand-crafted Southwestern artistry, featuring a total of twelve sandcast sterling silver conchos and buckle—each set with a natural turquoise cabochon. The stones display vibrant blue hues with varying matrix patterns and are securely bezel-set with classic twisted wire surrounds.
The conchos are mounted on a black leather belt and arranged in alternating sizes: six smaller conchos measuring approximately 2.23" x 1.63", and five larger ones at 2.11" x 3.15", with a coordinating buckle at 2.11" x 3.21". The belt fits waists from 25" to 36", with a total length of 41 inches and width of 1.92 inches. Total weight is 542.1 grams.
The reverse of the buckle bears a distinctive maker’s hallmark: a “Y” within a circle alongside a half-sun motif. While the mark is currently unlisted in major hallmark directories, its execution and placement suggest a mid-20th century Navajo silversmith, possibly working through a regional shop or trading post.
This is a bold, highly wearable example of traditional Navajo silversmithing—perfect for collectors of Native American jewelry, Western dress, or fine turquoise.

In good condition overall. The sterling conchos retain original patina with some surface oxidation and minor wear from age. All turquoise stones are secure in their bezels. The leather strap is sturdy. We'll leave the polishing to you.
