Description

Dan Oliver Navajo Sterling Silver & Turquoise Bolo Tie - 46", Signed

This exceptional Navajo bolo tie by Dan Oliver reflects the masterful craftsmanship and design sensibilities for which he is renowned. The substantial bolo slide (2.09" x 1.53") is handcrafted from solid sterling silver and showcases a bold turquoise cabochon (18.93 mm x 7.16 mm) set in a rope-style bezel. Dan's meticulous hand-stamped patterns around the stone create a striking visual contrast, blending geometric Navajo motifs with timeless Southwestern style.

The 46-inch braided leather cord is designed for comfort and fit, featuring a flattened section where it rests against the neck to maintain proper position and allow a shirt collar to lay flat. It is finished with tapered sterling silver cones, adding elegance and weight to the piece. Signed on the reverse with "Dan Oliver," "Hand Made," and "Sterling," this bolo tie carries both aesthetic and collectible value, representing the legacy of one of Arizona's most respected Navajo silversmiths.

This piece is ideal for collectors of Native American jewelry, enthusiasts of Western fashion, or anyone seeking a statement accessory that blends tradition with fine artistry.

Artist Biography:

Dan Oliver (Navajo, 1950s-2015) was born into a family steeped in silversmithing tradition, the son of WWII Navajo Code Talker Lloyd Oliver and Pima artisan Pauline Peters. Using his father's tools, Dan honed his craft from a young age, eventually becoming the resident silversmith at Shades of the West in Scottsdale, Arizona, for over 40 years. His work is celebrated for its integration of Navajo rug patterns, pottery motifs, and natural elements, creating pieces that are both traditional and modern. Today, Dan Oliver's signed jewelry remains highly collectible, appreciated for its authenticity and artistry.

Condition:

Good condition. The silver remains bright and could be polished to a higher shine if desired, but it has been intentionally left unpolished to preserve its original character.

A signed Navajo sterling bolo tie of this quality, with a large turquoise stone and 46-inch cord, is an outstanding find for collectors or anyone seeking a bold Western accessory. Don't miss this opportunity to acquire a piece of Navajo heritage by Dan Oliver.
