Artist Biography
Zbyszek Koziol (1946–2014), originally from Poland, was a surrealist painter known for his expressive, abstract works blending figurative elements with fantastical symbolism. After relocating to the U.S., he settled in Key West, Florida, where he and his wife, Tippi Heywood Koziol (b. 1964), established a gallery in 1995 on Duval Street. Tippi brought a background in design, window display, and mural work, adding a bold theatrical quality to their art.
Together, the Koziols created a rich body of work that blends outsider art, folk motifs, and Caribbean influences. Their colorful compositions often featured whimsical creatures, human-animal hybrids, and surreal landscapes. Their gallery became a beloved local institution, and their collaborative works continue to captivate collectors with their joyful energy and imaginative flair.
