“James Bone” Shadow Box by Cielito Lindo — Folk Art Bond Parody, Mexico
A humorous twist on a cultural icon, this hand-painted Mexican shadow box by Cielito Lindo Estudio transforms 007 into “James Bone”—a skeleton secret agent flanked by a skeletal femme fatale and a white cat, posed before London’s Big Ben. Rendered in vibrant paint with Day of the Dead flair, the piece merges Mexican folk tradition with pop parody.
Crafted by José Antonio “El Santo” Madrazo and made in San Miguel de Allende, the nicho is framed in colorfully enameled tin with playful motifs: a martini glass, Union Jack palette, and a skull-headed “007.” The back is maker-marked with a studio label (Model 675C) and retains its original retail tag. Wall-mountable with hook affixed.
Condition:
Excellent condition. No damage or missing elements. Paint remains vibrant and intact, with only natural variations typical of handcrafted tin work. Label and original tag affixed verso.
Size:
9 x 8 x 1 inches (Height x Width x Depth)
