Chinese Famille Verte Garden Seat – Signed
A hand-painted Chinese porcelain garden seat in the Famille Verte palette, featuring a lush and intricate design of birds perched on pine branches framed by dense chrysanthemum foliage. The central scene is rendered with brushwork that echoes traditional ink painting, blending rich naturalism with lyrical detail. A misty mountain landscape decorates the top, while the entire body is encircled by floral borders in vibrant hues of yellow, pink, and orange on a soft celadon ground.
A vertical calligraphic inscription appears beside the main panel, followed by a red seal and further brush-written characters. This artist’s signature and stamp point to a skilled hand, likely from the late Qing to early Republic period (circa 1890–1930), when studio-signed garden seats became prized for both export and domestic collectors.
With its functional flat top and pierced coin handles, the piece serves equally well as an occasional seat, decorative accent, or plant stand. A richly painted and signed example of Chinese artistry, perfect for collectors of antique ceramics or fine Asian decorative arts.
