Description

Authentic Navajo Sandpainting – 14.5" Framed

This is an authentic Navajo sandpainting set in a wood frame with visible artwork measuring approximately 11.5 x 11.5 inches. Featuring two Yei figures flanking a sacred plant form, the piece is composed of natural colored sands in earthy and turquoise tones, representing themes of healing and harmony rooted in Navajo tradition.

The reverse includes an affixed label titled “A History of This Navajo Sandpainting”, which explains its cultural origin in traditional healing ceremonies. Once ephemeral and ritual-specific, these sandpaintings have evolved into collectible art—each piece echoing sacred symbolism and vibrant storytelling.

This framed example, with no glass, offers rich texture and cultural depth, ideal for collectors of Native American art or Southwestern décor.

Condition

Good overall condition. The frame shows minor wear consistent with age and handling, but there is no visible damage to the sandpainting itself. No glass present, as originally crafted. Informational label intact on verso.
