Mid-Century Brutalist Forged Iron Candleholder Sculpture — 1960s Studio Craft
bold and sculptural Brutalist candleholder crafted in forged iron, this mid-century piece embodies the expressive energy of 1960s studio metalwork. The design features a flared, ribbed bowl supported by angular geometric planes and twisting wrought elements, all finished in a matte black patina with rich surface textures.
The work is evocative of artists such as Paul Evans and David Palombo, known for integrating modernist abstraction with traditional metal forging. Although unmarked, the piece shows skilled craftsmanship throughout and is an excellent example of functional art from the Brutalist design movement.
