Description

Hermle Louis XV-Style Mantel Clock – Gilded Bronze, Enamel Dial (West Germany)

A beautifully styled vintage mantel clock by Hermle, crafted in the manner of 18th-century French Louis XV designs. The elegant case features warm-toned inlaid wood with intricate floral marquetry and ornate gilded bronze mounts, including scrolling foliage, acanthus feet, and a dramatic pierced finial. A cast female mask adorns the arch above the dial, adding a touch of classical grandeur.

The brass dial is richly decorated with textured arabesques and set with raised white enamel Roman numeral chapters, a signature of fine Continental clockmaking. The time is indicated by finely cut black hands.

Powered by a Hermle mechanical 8-day movement (model 131-071), this clock is marked:
Hermle, No (0) Jewels, Unadjusted, Made in West Germany.
It was designed to strike the half-hour and hour on a bell (mechanism untested). This model is known for its reliability and is a sought-after caliber for traditional mantel clocks.

Condition

Cosmetic condition is good with rich color and fine detailing retained. Notable flaw includes a cracked front glass panel (visible in photos). The clock is missing its pendulum and winding key, and the mechanism is untested. Sold as-is for display or restoration.
