Pair of Solid Walnut Onyx Top Cabinets – Brass Pulls, Mid-Century
This elegant pair of mid-century side cabinets showcases solid walnut construction with a bold octagonal silhouette, richly carved paneling, and natural onyx insert tops. Reflecting the Spanish Revival and Brutalist influences popular in American furniture design of the 1960s and 1970s, the cabinets offer a striking mix of texture, symmetry, and organic materials.
Each cabinet features one fully removable and adjustable shelf behind double doors with original brass pulls. The creamy onyx tops are highly figured, with swirling tones of ivory, amber, and rose—adding a dramatic yet earthy contrast to the warm walnut wood.
Stylistically and structurally similar to pieces produced by Lane Furniture during the same era, these substantial and sturdy cabinets function beautifully as end tables or nightstands, and make excellent statement pieces in a curated interior.
Condition
In good vintage condition with honest wear from use. Minor scuffs and chips to the lower base, more noticeable upon close inspection. The onyx tops display light surface wear typical of age. One cabinet shows more visible scuffing and wear below the right door and on the lower front panel. Both pieces are structurally sound, with clean interiors and smoothly functioning doors.
