Vintage Japanese Silk Kimono with Ombre Dye and Floral Embroidery
This vintage Japanese kimono is in the style of the Taishō to early Shōwa period and showcases exceptional textile artistry. Made of lustrous silk, the garment features a warm ombré dye that shifts from ivory to rich amber brown. Flowing across the robe are hand-embroidered rose vines in varying shades of bronze and chestnut, rendered with remarkable detail and dimensional stitching. The floral design extends gracefully across the sleeves, back, and front panels, adding movement and visual depth.
Traditional in form, the kimono has wide sleeves and an open front, and includes the original matching silk belt. Netted fringe at the sleeve ends adds a rare decorative flourish, suggesting influence from early 20th-century Japonisme aesthetics. This piece is ideal for collectors of antique Japanese garments or as a statement textile for display.
Condition:
In good vintage condition with some overall wear. There are a few small stains visible on the body of the kimono, and the included belt shows minor marks that may be removable with cleaning. The embroidery remains vibrant and intact. Please refer to the photos for detailed views.
