The Point of My Pencil from Shoofly's War-Bag, Signed

This signed 2002 edition of The Point of My Pencil from Shoofly’s War-Bag presents a masterful collection of Western pencil drawings by acclaimed artist Robert "Shoofly" Shufelt. A true celebration of cowboy life and ranching culture, this book captures the grit, beauty, and authenticity of the American West through Shufelt’s signature photorealistic pencil work.

Featuring meticulous detail and powerful storytelling, Shoofly’s artwork showcases working cowboys, cattle drives, ranch hands, and the unyielding landscapes of the West. His ability to bring life to each composition has made him one of the most respected Western illustrators of his time.

This volume includes:

  • A foreword by Russell Chatham (renowned landscape painter and lithographer)
  • An introduction by Susan Hallsten McGarry (art historian and author)
  • Contributions from Jim Gierhart, friends, and family
  • An epilogue by Wilford Brimley, the legendary Western actor
  • Hardcover bound in a deep burgundy cloth with silver lettering
  • Richly illustrated with Shoofly’s highly detailed pencil drawings
  • Personally signed by Robert "Shoofly" Shufelt

The book’s title, Shoofly’s War-Bag, references the cowboy’s personal gear bag, a place where they keep their essentials—much like how this book holds the essence of Shoofly’s life’s work.
