Inspired by Carroll Shelby's success in shoehorning a Ford V8 into the AC Ace to create the Cobra, British carmaker Rootes asked Shelby to perform the same trick with its Sunbeam Alpine sports car. Ford's 260ci V8 engine was chosen, and backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Its power was nearly double the output of the contemporary Alpine's 1.6-liter engine. Assembled by Jensen Motors and introduced in 1964, the Tiger featured a stronger gearbox and rear axle plus rack & pinion steering. Enjoying the thrill of V8 speed and power with remarkably smooth operation are but a few of the virtues of fine engineering and craftsmanship for which Sunbeam is renowned.

An extensive, documented complete restoration - including chassis, body, paint, interior and engine rebuild - was completed on this Tiger in 2014 from a member of the British Motorcar Club of Southern New Mexico. Finished in show-quality Silver Gray Metallic, this car is a real head turner. As a member of the California Association of Tiger Owners (CAT), special care and attention to detail during the restoration was documented. Included is several manuals, a banker's box, full! Photos, receipts, spare parts are included (extra windshield, transmission, and more!).  Restoration was a five year process that was completed in 2014, and since then the car has been in a collection with very few miles driven, other than an occasional car show.
