Description

"Desert" Hand-Stitched Landscape, Limited Edition Framable Fabric Art by Lea Ann Ferring

Lea Ann Ferring is a dear friend and talented fabric artist. She was very kind to donate three of her art pieces to benefit 1CaT, and we are most grateful. All of her art pieces are unique and beautiful. On this particular landscape, Lea Ann used needle felting and hand embroidering with assorted stitches to create depth and texture for the cacti and other desert vegetation. See the closeup photo for a better look at some of the details that Lea Ann incorporated into her art. See the closeup photo for a better look at some of the details that Lea Ann incorporated into her art. Unfortunately, Lea Ann's hand-stitched landscapes are a very limited edition because she no longer is able to get the substrate for these lovely art pieces. This art piece would be priced at $60 in our Cloudcroft, NM gift shop/gallery Off the Beaten Path.

About the Artist:

Lea Ann Ferring, Mayhill, NM

Lea Ann Ferring grew up visiting Cloudcroft and the Sacramento Mountains, and was blessed to move to the Mayhill area full time several years ago. "Nature excites me and I love to capture it using fiber art,” Lea Ann states. "I create realistic or whimsical scenes using a variety of materials and techniques.” Through her fiber art, Lea Ann explores texture using felting, quilting, hand stitching and painting with cottons, hand-dyed wools, recycled silks, beads, and various weight embroidery threads. "My favorite pieces come about by asking 'what if' as I apply different techniques.” Nature is her inspiration for color and texture. She works with commercial fabric, hand-dyed fabric, silks, wool roving, lace, ribbons and images on paper and fabric. She likes to include found objects in her work where it is appropriate.
