From the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico--collectors will recognize the name of this well-known potter, Paty Ortiz. She has formed this piece of art with the popular marbled clay and given it a very velvety finish. This pot as others she creates, has a thin wall. Under the beautiful collar, she has painted in terra-cotta and black an intricate array of geometrics in swirling bands which encircle representations of birds which is repeated on both sides.
