Description

San Ildefonso Polychrome Jar, c.1910
This San Ildefonso polychrome jar dates to 1910-1915. The jar has a red rim, and a secondary red band at the bottom of its central design, indicating its age. The piece is stone-polished rather than rag-wiped, another indication of its age. Although the jar is unsigned, the excellent molding and precise painting are likely the work of San Ildefonso pottery team Maximiliana “Anna” Montoya and her husband Crescencio Martinez. Maximiliana Montoya was the older sister of Maria Martinez.
Condition:
Excellent condition with two rim chip repairs, shown in last photo.

Size:
8.5" X 12"
