About the Artist:
Edouard Henri Léon (1873 - 1968) studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts with Léon Bonnat, Gustave J. Jaquet and Eugène Gaujean. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and was notably awarded the Legion of Honor. A professor and recognized master in engraving, he opened the Edouard Léon workshop in Paris rue de Médéah. (rue du 14e arrondissement deleted in 1980). He exhibited sketches in 1920 at the Brooklyn Society of Etchers and at the Print Makers Society of California. In 1927, he exhibited at the Witte Memorial Museum in San Antonio, Texas.
