Vintage Haddad Jezzine Firebird Horn Carved Handles Flatware
Jezzine Ware was made in Lebanon by Alfred Haddad Company. Jezzine is a small city in Lebanon. Jezzine cutlery is known for having been made of decorated carved animal horns or bone and fashioned in the shape of a "tawouss" . The Haddad family was famous for making these implements. This design dates back to the late 1700's and over the centuries sets of Jezzine cutlery have been presented to Ottoman Sultans and other dignitaries and celebrities around the world.J ezzine, a Southern area of Lebanon, is renowned for its handcrafted knives and other cutlery made of inlaid mosaics and bone. What is typical of Jezzine Ware cutlery is that it features African buffalo horn handles in the shape of a long-necked bird with inlaid coloured stones and metal trim. This bird, which looks something like a peacock, represents the mythical Phoenix or Firebird.
