About the Artist:
Elizabeth Hoen (1868 - 1955) was active/lived in California. Elizabeth Hoen is known for Watercolor landscapes.Born in Santa Rosa, California to a pioneering California family, Elizabeth Hoen was known for her watercolor paintings, many of them landscapes, in impressionist style. Her father, Berthold Hoen started a trading post in the Carillo adobe, the first building erected in the Sonoma Valley. He also helped survey and lay out the city of Santa Rosa.Elizabeth maintained a studio in Los Angeles. Never married, she died at the Santa Rosa hotel on May 30, 1955 .Lorenzo P. Latimer was the teacher who had the most influence on her work. She exhibited at the San Francisco Art Association in 1917.Source: "Artists in California, 1786-1940," by Edan Hughes.
