1930s Amber Wheel-Engraved Glass Ice Bucket, Diamond Lattice & Floral
A large conical amber glass ice bucket of 1930s American manufacture, decorated in two engraved registers. A dense crosshatch diamond-lattice band wraps the flared rim, giving way mid-body to a floral spray of stylized five-petal blossoms and feathered leaves. The engraving is skilled wheel work — fine parallel line cutting with hatched shading across the petals — not acid etching, and a clear step above standard pressed Depression glass in craft. The base is polished flat with a pontil finish. Unmarked.
The warm amber body was a staple of American commercial glasshouses through the 1930s, produced in quantity by firms including Heisey, Cambridge, and Tiffin. The form and engraving here are consistent with Tiffin or Cambridge output of the period. At 9.25 inches this is a full ice-bucket scale rather than a repurposed vase, and the color reads richly under light.
CONDITION
Good. Mineral deposits present in the interior, with some resulting cloudiness that affects the read of the glass in raking light. Engraving remains crisp and the polished base is clean; no chips or cracks noted. Please review all photos for condition and detail.
