Hand-Blown Amethyst & Clear Striped Art Glass Vase, Ruffled Rim
A substantial hand-blown art glass vase built on alternating vertical stripes of dark amethyst and clear glass, the clear panels worked in a heavily dimpled, textured surface that catches and scatters light across the body. The flared mouth finishes in a lobed, ruffled rim, while the base carries a radiating starburst of amethyst on a clear ground — a pontil-finished detail characteristic of quality free-blown work. In directed light the deep coloring reads as near-black, but resolves to a true dark amethyst, the more collectible of the two.
At 13" tall and over 4 lbs, this is a production piece of real presence, not a lightweight pressed form. Construction and aesthetic are consistent with Murano-style European art glass of the 1980s–2000s, though the vase carries no signature or label and attribution remains open. The striped-and-textured design photographs well and slots easily into contemporary interior settings, where the contrast of clear texture against solid color does the visual work.
